There are few media members who covered the ‘90s Dallas Cowboys more closely than Skip Bayless, which is why Netflix will feature him in their upcoming docuseries on Jerry Jones.
Bayless was once one of the foremost journalists covering America’s Team. Now he’s relegated to making videos throwing his Cowboys gear in the trash after bad losses.
You can throw away merch, but you can’t throw away memories. And Bayless has a lot of them from the ‘90s era Dallas Cowboys.
On the latest episode of The Skip Bayless Show, the FS1 host professed his passion for the Cowboys by revealing he is participating in a Netflix docuseries that was announced last year.
“I live for the Dallas Cowboys,” Bayless said. “I wrote three books about the Dallas Cowboys. Pretty soon I’m going to sit for a five-hour interview with the folks from Netflix doing this huge Cowboy documentary about the team of the ‘90s, the dynasty of the ‘90s.
“It’s a documentary that should rival The Last Dance documentary on the Chicago Bulls, it will be the answer to that documentary. It could be an all-time great because I know these stories, because I lived them. I am the Dallas Cowboys. Part and parcel. They are me, I am they.”
News of NFL Films and Skydance Sports developing a docuseries on Jerry Jones and his ownership of the Dallas Cowboys was initially announced in May 2023. Last July, Netflix landed the untitled series for a reported price tag close to $50 million.
At their upfront last month, Netflix announced the docuseries will be 10 episodes featuring “never-before-seen footage and interviews” with Jones and some all-time Cowboys greats of the ‘90s.
Netflix listed Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith and Deion Sanders, as well as former Cowboys head coaches Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer. They also mentioned other notable names such as George W. Bush and Nike founder Phil Knight as participants. But if those names aren’t enough to get you intrigued, maybe Skip Bayless’s participation will.
