Shannon Sharpe defends 49ers owner Jed York: ‘Ain’t nothing wrong with that’

ESPN might not want to cover San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York being arrested on prostitution charges, but Shannon Sharpe has no issue with it.

To be clear, Sharpe has no issue covering it, he also has no issue with York allegedly attempting to pay for sexual activity. York was arrested Sunday in East Palestine, Ohio and initially charged with engaging in prostitution, but it was later amended to disorderly conduct. The 49ers owners pleaded no contest to the reduced charges after allegedly responding to a prostitution ad, offering to pay $140 for sex at an Ohio trailer park.

“Ain’t nothing wrong with that,” Sharpe said with a smirk. “Come on, man. You think the man cause he’s worth a billion dollars he don’t want to wet his whistle?”

Nightcap co-host Joe Johnson seemed rather disgusted by the thought of a wealthy person going to a trailer park with $140 for sex. On the contrary, Chad Johnson claimed he was familiar with the area where York allegedly went to receive sexual favors, implying he has been there for similar reasons himself. Sharpe was eager to add, “sometimes you like them sleazy.”

“They the ones that got all the moves,” Sharpe insisted. “Remember I told you, ‘She had more moves than a $100 hooker?’ Them the ones that got the moves, the $5,000 ones don’t do nothing but model.”

But Joe Johnson still wasn’t having it, noting he’s not pulling up to a trailer park or any place that “looks funny” for any sort of service.

“They charge $140,” Sharpe reminded Johnson. “For $140, I’m expecting a screen door to be hanging. I walk up, I’m walking in with a screen door hanging off that thing for $140.”

Sharpe, of course, has gotten used to making details of his own sex life public. The Shay Shay Media founder accidentally went on Instagram Live during a sexual encounter while he was an ESPN employee. Sharpe also saw his ESPN tenure come to an abrupt end as he dealt with since-settled sexual assault allegations against him.

“It don’t make him no bad brother,” Sharpe said of York. “The man is human… he a man and he still got needs.”

The 49ers issued a brief statement on York, noting they won’t provide any further comment since it is a resolved legal matter. The NFL is reviewing York’s legal matter under terms of its personal conduct policy.
