NFL lifers turned Thursday Night Football broadcast partners Ryan Fitzpatrick and Andrew Whitworth are launching a podcast.
Fitz & Whit, a new weekly show from the journeyman quarterback and Super Bowl champion offensive tackle, will release each Monday morning. The two former Cincinnati Bengals teammates will recap the week’s NFL games and look ahead to their coverage of Thursday Night Football while going behind the scenes on their lives around the game of football and as retired family men.
Wave Sports + Entertainment will bring the show to life after a successful track record with the Kelce brothers, Paul George, and more.
“Whit and I have the best time working on Thursday Night Football each week, so it was a no-brainer to do this show together,” said Fitzpatrick in a statement.
Whitworth joined Prime Video shortly after his NFL retirement in 2021 and now adds a podcast.
“I am excited to make this show with my longtime friend and NFL brother, Ryan Fitzpatrick. We’ve had countless moments on the field and off, and now we get to bring those stories and experiences to fans in a whole new way,” said Whitworth in a statement. “Wave continues to be a leader in athlete storytelling, and with their track record of creating standout shows we knew they were the perfect partner to help us share our take on football and life beyond the game.”
The NFL digital content space has exploded in recent years. Led by the Kelces, the Mannings, Pat McAfee and Shannon Sharpe, nearly every digital sports production house has an athlete-hosted breakdown show these days.
From Bill Belichick and Colt McCoy at Underdog to Sharpe and Chad Johnson at The Volume to Domonique Foxworth and potentially Jason Kelce at ESPN, networks are cashing in on athlete voices talking football.
It’s a crowded space, but Fitzpatrick and Whitworth have proven their chops on Prime Video and bring name recognition and long careers to pull from.
