After Deshaun Watson played his best game since joining the Cleveland Browns, Fox Sports Radio host Rob Parker is ready to sell the quarterback’s story to Hollywood.
Watson’s contract with the Cleveland Browns is widely considered one of the worst deals in NFL history. But if Watson is healthy and on the field, he’s bound to win at least a few games. Watson proved that Sunday afternoon, winning his 10th game in more than four seasons with the Browns. And on the heels of that win, Rob Parker wants to know why he’s the only one celebrating the feat.
“Deshaun Watson is a TREMENDOUS comeback story” 😮

“People were so ready to spin their own narrative. Deshaun Watson, when he spoke out recently, he was right! The media – he has to be perfect. He has to throw for 400 yards. If he doesn’t have five touchdowns, he stinks,” Parker ranted about the media coverage around Watson. “That’s what they were feeding you as a listener. Call these people out. Where are they now? It wasn’t a big topic today. You know why? Too many people would have to fess up, own up, and admit they swung and missed.”
“This is a great comeback story. Do not let them tell you anything else,” Parker insisted. “It ain’t the greatest story ever told, but this is a tremendous comeback story for a guy who was down and out! Forget about his football career first. All the allegations and his name and the massages and all the other stuff that went on and the loss of money and his name and reputation. Then he gets one of the biggest deals ever in the NFL, completely guaranteed. The other players in this league, they should idolize Deshaun Watson!”
Let’s begin with the biggest reason why Watson isn’t being celebrated as a tremendous comeback story after leading the Browns to one win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He settled dozens of sexual misconduct accusations without showing much remorse or even a willingness to accept accountability. Because of that lack of remorse, Watson doesn’t have many people in his corner rooting for a tremendous comeback story, even as he’s been given chance after chance after chance to rehabilitate his NFL career.
It’s also hard to categorize this as a tremendous comeback story because it’s just one win. If Watson leads the Browns to a Super Bowl, or even the playoffs, he might start to win back some fans. But the only thing Watson won on Sunday was the chance to start again in Week 3. A quarterback receiving $230 million to get their 10th win in five years after tarnishing their own reputation and settling dozens of sexual misconduct allegations isn’t going to be treated like a tremendous comeback story because of a strong performance in Week 2.
