While the wildfires burning through Southern California have caused sporting events to be rescheduled or moved, that’s not currently in the plans for Monday night’s NFL Playoff game between the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams. There is, however, a contingency plan.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the NFL announced that the plans remain for the game to be played as scheduled but also shared a backup plan.

“The NFL’s first priority is the safety of the Los Angeles community. We are grateful for the tireless efforts of the first responders. Our hearts are with Los Angeles and everyone affected by the fires,” the statement, which was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network said.

“We continue to prepare to play the Vikings-Rams game as scheduled Monday night at SoFi Stadium,” the statement continued. “As with all games, there are contingency plans in the event a change in location is needed. In this instance, the game would be played on Monday night at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ, if necessary. We will continue to monitor developments in the area and will remain in contact with public officials, both clubs and the NFLPA.”

The game is scheduled to be at SoFi Stadium, the home venue of the Rams, and will be the final game played on Wild Card Weekend. The Chargers are also playing on Wild Card Weekend but are on the road in Houston.
