Peter Schrager Good Morning Football Screen grab: Good Morning Football

Peter Schrager has delivered his most controversial take yet.

The NFL Network contributor and Good Morning Football analyst got on his soapbox Thursday and spoke the gospel about one of his favorite football movies that involves no real football at all. Schrager, who is very in touch with the NFL Draft and prospect scene, soundly admitted that he loved Draft Day, the 2014 film featuring Kevin Costner and Jennifer Garner.

And he doesn’t care who knows it.

“I love Draft Day,” Schrager exclaimed on Thursday’s GMFB. “People hate Draft Day. People say it’s not realistic, it’s absurd, it’s so dumb, it’s fanatic. There’s no better sitting on a plane, flipping through the options, and getting lost for two and a half hours than the movie Draft Day with Kevin Costner and Dennis Leary, inexplicably, the late Chadwick Boseman. Just a fantastic film, and there’s so many of our NFL Network and NFL Media colleagues making…”

Schrager was obviously trying to allude to those in the space who hate Draft Day with every fiber of their being. He foretold the responses to the just over-a-minute clip and how volatile his hot take would be.

“Costner’s great in this thing,” he continues. “It’s him and Garner in this unlikely love duo. Will they or won’t they? While they’re trying to go up for the first pick in the draft. He basically trades the moon to get a linebacker and picks him first. Like it doesn’t even make sense, but I like it, and I think it’s great, and I can’t turn away. I know a small but passionate Draft Day mafia is with me on Twitter.”

“This movie gets panned globally…I love Draft Day.”

So, if you Schrager or the dozens of Draft Day Mafia on a flight, don’t be surprised if they’re the ones glued to their screens, cheering on Kevin Costner as he pulls off those impossibly ridiculous trades.

Vontae Mack no matter what.
