San Francisco 49ers star Nick Bosa received criticism from some media pundits after wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat in support of Donald Trump during an on-field interview following their win over the Dallas Cowboys. But as far as he sees it, the political statement was “well worth” any potential fine that could be coming his way.
Bosa seemingly got the result he wanted on Election Day, with Trump securing the 2024 election after winning both the popular and electoral college vote over Vice President Kamala Harris.
According to a report from Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports last week, the league was “reviewing” Bosa’s case, which violated the league’s policy prohibiting players from portraying messages related to politics.
In a conversation with reporters on Wednesday, Bosa revealed that he has not yet received a fine from the NFL. But if he does, it will be “well worth it” since Trump did ultimately win the election.
“I don’t know, I haven’t gotten one yet. But if it comes it comes,” said Bosa. “Yeah, it was well worth it.”
Bosa received flak from the media for his political statement not because of the statement itself, but because he refused to say anything else on the matter afterward, which some felt was a cop-out.
Nothing changed regarding Bosa’s willingness to speak on the matter Wednesday, as he again refused to explain why he wore the MAGA hat when asked by reporters.
“I don’t think my position on speaking about it is gonna change,” he said. “So clearly, the nation spoke and we got what we got.”

Bosa did add that he “enjoyed” Election Day and stayed up throughout the night to watch as the votes poured in.
