Mike Francesa is not a fan of the current state of NFL pregame shows.

While going through his “Francesa Five” picks on his eponymous podcast on Friday, Francesa took a swipe at pregame shows. He did not point out one pregame show in particular, but seemed against the general practice of them in their current form.

“You don’t have to be there at 12 for the pregame show,” Francesa said. “You don’t learn anything on those pregame shows anyways. They’ve become clown acts. They’re all standing around. They’re all acting like they’re simulating plays, they’re all standing up… It’s a joke.”

While we hold an extremely pro-pregame stance, Francesa’s lament is not all that new. Some people do not like the “simulated plays” that he mentions, though the issue Francesa has with standing is a bit more specific. There’s a reason he’s the best in the business though.

Still, the magic of the sport has not yet escaped Francesa, and he is apparently an NFL RedZone guy, as he expressed his adoration for the fabled “Witching Hour” of the early afternoon window.

“But you want to be there at one. I know the times are changing and the games are on different days and they’re talking about the witching hour. The witching hour is still around. Okay? There’s nothing like the witching hour.”

Mike, like the rest of us, is ready for some football on Sunday.

As for those at Fox, CBS, ESPN and elsewhere prepping their pregame show plans, just know that Mike will not be watching.
