It was inevitable.
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix, Jr. has made waves for his college career at Indiana and Washington, as well as his ascension up the depth chart to be the team’s presumed starting quarterback in 2025.
Of course, there’s the whole thing with his last name. Penix. You know the thing.
Desmond Howard knew it in 2023 when discussing the then-Heisman hopeful during College GameDay, saying the Huskies QB was “gonna bring that Big Penix Energy!” And to be fair, the quarterback himself started selling “BI9 PENIX ENERGY” shirts during his college career.
However, it wasn’t until Wednesday that destiny finally arrived in the form of a Freudian slip on a TV station chyron. Specifically, it was Savannah, Georgia, CBS affiliate WTOC that offered up a graphic that read “Michael Penis, Jr.”

Makes you realize that if that actually were his last name, he probably wouldn’t go by Junior Penis.
The odds of this mistake happening again, either via graphic or an announcer’s slip of the tongue, will go up exponentially once the NFL season gets underway. Good luck to all the NFL broadcasters out there.
