Former ESPN’er Mark Schlereth to join FS1 and NFL on Fox

A long-time ESPN’er, Mark Schlereth is heading to Fox Sports/FS1. Schlereth tweeted the news.

What Schlereth didn’t say is that it’s likely that he’ll be joining the NFL on Fox as a game analyst. Awful Announcing has learned that Fox Sports is expected to shakeup the bottom tier of its NFL announcing teams and Schlereth will be part of that.

According to the Sporting News, Schlereth’s move to Fox had been in the works for some time.

ESPN public relations maven Bill Hofheimer wished Schlereth well:

As Schlereth tweeted, he’ll be joining FS1 as a studio analyst expected to appear regularly on Undisputed, the Herd with Colin Cowherd and Speak for Yourself.

Schlereth joined ESPN in 2001 and went full-time with the Worldwide Leader in 2004. He has been on both TV and radio either as an analyst or talk show host. He co-hosted “Sedano & Stink” on ESPN Radio until 2015.

In addition to his radio and TV career, Schlereth appeared on the CBS soap opera Guiding Light as Detective Roc Hoover in a recurring role and also had a sitcom in development called Home Game that never got off the ground.

Now that he’s with Fox, perhaps Schlereth will try to revive his acting career. Detective Roc Hoover might fit well in one of Fox’s shows.

But the main takeaway here is that Schlereth will be making appearances on various studio shows on FS1 as well as being a game analyst for the NFL on Fox.
