Saturday was a big day for Joe Mixon. During Saturday’s playoff game against the Los Angeles Chargers, Mixon had 25 carries, 106 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. More importantly, he helped lead the Houston Texans to a 32-12 win.
While there were several worthy candidates, Mixon was named as the game’s NVP on the Nickelodeon altcast. Because of that, he earned a postgame interview with Dylan Schefter. Mixon seemed to take the same approach to the interview with Schefter that he would if he was talking to her father, longtime NFL insider Adam Schefter.
Schefter (Dylan) started the interview by bringing up Mixon’s 17-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, which effectively iced the game.
“To finish off the game you had the touchdown that sealed the deal, and 106 yards,” Schefter said. “So what’s that like knowing that for you?”
“It’s just a hell of a feeling,” Mixon said. “First and foremost, I want to thank God. ‘Cause without him, we wouldn’t be here right now. But man, all week, we came to work. Offensive line was down and dirty in them trenches. And our guys showed up to work. It took four quarters — four hard quarters. And I’m just glad, man, we lasting another week. And shoutout to Nickelodeon for this.”
Schefter’s next question was, “How does it feel knowing you played a large part in helping your team get to Divisionals next weekend.” Mixon replied by crediting the entire team for the work throughout the week.
For her final question, Schefter asked Mixon, “Where does the NVP rank on your career achievement list?”
“Them boys up front, receivers and tight ends, they all played their ass off today. And I’m just happy.”

“I mean, it’s one of the top ones,” he said. “I feel like I’m getting all kinds of accolades being here on this team and being a big part of it. And I’m just — like I said, I thank God. You know? Without him giving me my God-given talent, I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing. But them boys up front, receivers and tight ends, they all played their ass off today. And I’m just happy, like I said. You know, like I said, shoutout to y’all for this.”
