Jim Nantz calls out hot takers trolling Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce can just let his play do the talking, especially since he has Jim Nantz and Whoopi Goldberg to call out his critics.

After Kelce experienced his slowest start to an NFL season since his rookie year, the soon-to-be 35-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end broke out in a big way Sunday afternoon against the Los Angeles Chargers. With seven catches and 90 yards, Kelce quieted some of the critics who were blaming Taylor Swift for derailing his career. And if Kelce’s play didn’t immediately quiet his critics, CBS play-by-play voice Jim Nantz did.

On the heels of the tight end’s breakout game to help lead Kansas City to a 17-10 win over the Chargers, Tony Romo noted “Kelce is back,” prompting Nantz to chime in with a warning to all the hot takers.

“All the hot takes, you gotta find someone else to troll this week,” Nantz said as the clock expired during Kansas City’s fourth win in as many games of the season.

Nantz calling out trolls is about as big of a hot take as you’re going to get from the even-keeled CBS announcer. But he’s right, Kelce’s big performance should be enough to get the hot takers off his back for at least one week. Through the first three weeks of the season, however, at least some of those hot takes were warranted.

Prior to his seven-reception, 90-yard performance against the Chargers, Kelce had just eight catches for 69 yards after three games this season, sparking cause for concern with Taylor Swift bearing the brunt of the blame. And after Whoopi Goldberg defended Kelce by telling his critics to “shut up,” the All-Pro tight end stepped up to make the hot takers find someone else to troll this week.
