Over the weekend, Netflix aired a roast of legendary ex-NFL quarterback Tom Brady.
The roast featured Brady’s friends, former teammates and coaches, and other celebrities coming together to razz the 46-year-old.
While most, including Brady, seemed to have a good time at the event, others spoke out about how some of the jokes were too far and hurtful. Brady’s ex-wife, Gisele Bundchen, was reportedly “deeply disappointed” by some of the jokes at her expense during the event.
This week on The New Heights podcast, recently retired NFL lineman Jason Kelce discussed the roast. Particularly how, while he found it entertaining, he doesn’t see the point of the concept.
“It was pure entertainment, and I’m really happy they did it, but I just don’t get the roasts. I don’t know why people do it. Maybe I take myself too seriously. It was star-studded. The best part about it was how many iconic NFL and celebrities of immense stature were there,” Kelce said via the New York Post.
Kelce wasn’t done, though.
“I really don’t f–king get it,” he continued. “I don’t get why people do roasts. I don’t get why they are a thing. Haha, yeah, my family’s ruined. It’s so funny. Everyone’s laughing. It’s great. We’re having fun, yeah, right.”
It’s easy to see his point, as some of the jokes were a bit much. But, if Brady agreed and was okay with it, which he seemed to be except for one joke at Patriots owner Robert Kraft’s expense — it’s fair game.
It’s safe to conclude we won’t see a roast of Jason Kelce anytime soon.
