Perhaps one of the coolest pregame rituals in the NFL is the Minnesota Vikings’ ceremonial sounding of a giant Gjallarhorn as fans do the iconic “Skol” chant across the stadium. And for a Vikings fan, one would have to imagine being selected to blow the Gjallarhorn before a game is an honor up there with receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
NFL Network’s Jamie Erdahl, a lifelong Vikings fan who hosts the channel’s flagship morning show Good Morning Football, was bestowed that honor before her team took on the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night Football.

“The host of Good Morning Football on NFL Network. She is a Bloomington, Minnesota native. Comes home, she gets to blow the Gjallarhorn to get this going,” NBC play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico explained to fans.
Erdahl was her usual bubbly self — possibly even more excited than she is on-air at 4 a.m. local time when GMFB goes live from Los Angeles. The popular morning show host was brought to tears last month when Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell broke the news to her live on-air that she would be given the honor before Sunday’s Colts game.

You got to give Erdahl credit, she made the most of her moment. After leading the “Skol” chant, Erdahl blew the horn while giving a series of emphatic fist pumps. It really can’t get better than that for a Vikings fan.
