Someone may have farted during the Houston Texans Wild Card win over the Los Angeles Chargers on CBS, but Ian Eagle wants everyone to know it wasn’t him.
Last Monday, WFAN’s afternoon show with Evan Roberts and Tiki Barber devoted a segment to a fart sound that aired while Eagle was speaking during the broadcast.
More than a week later, Eagle appeared on Evan & Tiki to preview Tuesday night’s New York Knicks-Brooklyn Nets game on TNT and he began the interview by attempting to clear his name.

“I’ve been doing this a long time,” Eagle said. “And for the first time in my career, I got a text that began a torrent of texts last week. And I don’t know if it was unearthed on your show in particular or if it had already gone viral and I just wasn’t aware of it. But I got a text saying, ‘Tiki and Evan claim you farted on television.’ And I was dumbfounded…I can assure you it was not me.”
While Eagle’s denial of culpability is appreciated, Roberts and Barber did already clear his name from this fartgate. According to Roberts, Eagle was sitting down during the broadcast, but his analyst, Charles Davis was standing. Their rear locations makes it seem possible that a fart from Davis could have been in line with Eagle’s mic.
“We did pretty much clear you of this,” Roberts told Eagle Tuesday evening. “But we do think Charles Davis did it.”
“I can’t speak for CD,” Eagle said. “He does eat some pretty gassy foods.”
Somehow, this fart slipped through the cracks. Because despite occurring during an NFL playoff game, the supposed fart didn’t go viral and there was little conversation about it on social media. But upon hearing the clip from last week, it does sound like a fart was ripped by someone. Confident it was not him, however, Eagle declined the opportunity to hear the audio again.
