Super Bowl LVIII awaits after an exciting Championship Sunday. The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers will square off in Las Vegas a week from this Sunday. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce helped lead the Chiefs back to the Super Bowl after a 17-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Mahomes gutted through a difficult season, and the team came together and got hot when it mattered most. It’s not how you start, but it’s how you finish.
Meanwhile, San Francisco rolled into the Super Bowl after a historic 17-point comeback over the visiting Detroit Lions. The Lions saw their lead go up in smoke, and their chances of reaching their first Super Bowl dashed. San Francisco was the top team in the NFC by record, so they were expected to be here. They took care of business against the Packers and the Lions and got the job done. Now the 49ers are back and are hoping to pick up a championship on this run they’ve been on since 2019. Fittingly, that was the last time that these two met in the Super Bowl.
Super Bowl Sunday is a massive deal everywhere. It doesn’t matter whether you’re even into the NFL or not, there’s something for everybody. You might be there for the game, you might be there for the halftime show, or you’re there for the commercials.
Over the years, there’ve been many famous commercials that have run during the Super Bowl. Budweiser, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and others have all created famous Super Bowl commercials. On the flipside, there’ve been some infamous ones as well. It’s often viewed as one of the most attractive times to run an ad, if not the most, due to the massive annual audience for the Super Bowl. You might ask yourself, “is it worth it to make a Super Bowl commercial?” Or even, “How much is a Super Bowl ad in 2024?”
CBS has already sold out their ad budget for Super Bowl 58. The reported cost for each 30-second advertisement is a whopping $7 million. That cost remained the same from last year, which is newsworthy to a point. Over the last few seasons, a Super Bowl ad’s cost has gradually risen. For Super Bowl 58, though, yesterday’s price is still today’s price (Though Nickelodeon’s broadcast is seeing a low demand).

Consider that ten years ago, in 2014, a Super Bowl ad would have cost you $4 million. The $3 million difference between a Super Bowl ad then and a Super Bowl 2024 ad is stark. 20 years ago, in 2004, the reported cost was around $2.3 million. That’s an even more significant gap between the two prices.
Is it worth it? Often, yes. All the ad space is generally watched by so many people, and the networks earn a fortune worth in ads because of the premium. Super Bowl Sunday is the biggest day in America for a reason. You fill find anybody watching the Super Bowl for various reasons. Whether it’s the game itself, the halftime show, or, yes, even those commercials, it’s a ‘big game’ for everyone. The networks and advertisers, especially.
