Kyle Brandt made what seemed to be a ridiculous prediction several weeks ago about Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.

Monday morning, Brandt came with the receipts to take credit after his prediction came true.

The Good Morning Football co-host pointed out that on Sept. 16, he had noted that the video game Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 would be released Oct. 25. Murray, of course, is a huge fan of video games, and the CoD franchise in particular. The downside of that is that every shaky Murray performance in recent years has been followed by fans grumbling on social media that the quarterback spends too much time gaming and not enough time studying film, etc.

First, Brandt showed a replay of his Sept. 16 prediction.

“There is a new edition of the Call of Duty franchise coming out this fall … and it comes out Oct. 25,” Brandt said back then. So there’s already jokes out there about, ‘Enjoy Kyler now, because …’ That weekend, a couple of days later, the Arizona Cardinals play at the Miami Dolphins, a very difficult place to play. I’m going to say right now that Kyler Murray is going to be brilliant in that game.

“I want you to play this back on Good Morning Football Monday, October 28 after the Cardinals at Dolphins game and you will see that the jokes are over …”

So what did Murray do against the Dolphins? He threw for 307 yards — his best yardage game since October 2022 — and two touchdowns to lead the Cards to a 28-27 upset of the Dolphins.

Brandt had some fun taking credit for his prediction, first sharing some media reviews on the Black Ops 6 game.

“Apparently it is a great game,” Brandt began, “but not as great as the game Kyler Murray just had in Miami, Florida in which he was brilliant, in which he won the Call of Duty Bowl just days after his alleged weakness came out for streaming, download or physical media purchase. Kyler Murray was incredible in this game.”

Brandt, who is a Cardinals fan, said it’s time to drop this talking point about Murray.

“All the internet tells me is that he’s some numbskull who’s addicted to video games and needs a study clause,” Brandt said. “I might have made some of those jokes myself. … no more video game jokes, dummies, come up with something new.”

For his part, Murray doesn’t care what fans say about his love for Call of Duty. He recently announced a partnership with the franchise.
