During Sunday night’s roast of NFL legend Tom Brady on Netflix, seemingly nothing was off-limits with several of the roasters taking jabs at Brady’s personal life, including his recent separation from longtime wife Gisele Bündchen. But while Brady took all the jokes with a smile, (except for the one about Robert Kraft’s massage escapades) it does not seem like Bündchen was quite as enthused.
According to a source from People Magazine, Bündchen was “deeply disappointed by the disrespectful portrayal of her family on Sunday evening’s roast show.”
“As always, [Bündchen’s] priority is to support her children who were affected by the irresponsible content that was broadcasted,” the source told People.
While Bündchen was far from the focal point of the roast, there were multiple jokes that referenced her or her failed relationship with Brady.
Comedian Kevin Hart joked about Bündchen’s new relationship with her jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente while Nikki Glaser joked that Brady has eight rings “now that Gisele gave hers back,” in addition to his seven Super Bowl rings. Brady’s former teammates Drew Bledsoe and Julian Edelman also joked about Brady’s previous marriage with Gisele, though the jokes were centered more on Brady.
While nothing said about the couple’s relationship seemed to cross a line – especially compared to other jokes throughout the night – the source said that Bündchen was disappointed to hear of the jokes while she tries to help her home state in Brazil as it deals with devastating flooding.
“This past week, Gisele has been tirelessly dedicated to aiding those in need in her home state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, which is grappling with the worst flooding in its history. She was concerned about family affected by the devastating floods, so to hear her life being joked about was very disappointing,” the source said.
