The tush push has gone global.
Sunday’s NFL conference championship weekend featured its fair share of short-yardage situations. And when one of those games features the Philadelphia Eagles, football fans are sure to see their fair share of hand-to-butt action. Quarterback Jalen Hurts and Co. have made the so-called “brotherly shove” famous the past two seasons thanks to its combination of effectiveness and the unique look of the play.
Now, the German audience is gaining some familiarity with the play too.

Appearing on German television station RTL, former Indianapolis Colts defensive end Björn Werner, a German native, had his crew demonstrate the mechanics of the tush push. Host Jan Stecker served as the center, while Florian Schmidt-Sommerfeld took up the rear.
Werner began by giving his center, Stecker, a hefty slap on the behind before belting out “Blue 80! Blue 80! Set. Hut!” Then, a choo-choo train of men scuttled across the RTL studio.
It wasn’t exactly true to the Eagles’ version of the tush push, but then again, it’d be hard to recreate that in a studio. Heck, NFL announcers regularly say it’s impossible for other NFL teams to even practice for the play!
We all love some television hijinks, but that feeling may be elevated when it’s a trio of German guys, speaking German, but talking about America’s favorite pastime.
