A lot has changed for the Kansas City Chiefs organization in 15 years.

From a middle-of-the-road franchise to one that has an opportunity to be considered the greatest football dynasty of all time, there’s no doubt plenty went into the Chiefs’ turnaround.

Perhaps first among those changes was their draft process. From Chris Jones to Patrick Mahomes to Xavier Worthy, the Chiefs have struck gold on many draft picks in recent history. But the Chiefs’ operation wasn’t so buttoned up when NFL Network analyst Gerald McCoy went through his draft process in 2010.

In fact, it’s a miracle the franchise was winning any games based on the type of question they asked McCoy 15 years ago.

During a promotion that NFL GameDay Morning aired for the upcoming NFL Draft Combine on Sunday, the show flashed back to an interview McCoy gave to the NFL Network crew during his combine 2010, where he detailed an…interesting question that one franchise asked him during the draft process.

“What was the most bizarre question or situation…just give us something where you went, ‘Wow, that’s kind of weird,'” McCoy was asked back in 2010.

“On game day, do you where a jockstrap or a G-string?” McCoy deadpanned.

“That didn’t happen. That did not happen,” the NFL Network crew quickly chirped back.

Oh, it happened. And McCoy was able to share some more details about the incident on Sunday morning.

“You wanna know who it was?” McCoy said. “Ironically, it was the Kansas City Chiefs who asked me that!”

“Before this regime,” Steve Mariucci chimed in.

“Yes, before this regime,” McCoy replied.

“Yeah, Todd Haley was the head coach back then,” Rich Eisen reminded viewers.

It seems the Chiefs organization, under the tutelage of head coach Andy Reid, has come up with some more impactful questions to ask prospective rookies.

But if anyone was wondering, Gerald McCoy wears neither a jockstrap nor a G-string. He wears compression shorts.
