While everyone has a guess on the whereabouts of New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, under Pat McAfee’s couch might be the most creative.
Rodgers has been a no-show at mandatory minicamp for the Jets this week. This comes after Rodgers implored the Jets to “flush the bullsh*t” earlier this year and insisted he isn’t a distraction to the team. One, however, might categorize Rodgers’ absence as a distraction, a distraction that the Jets and their head coach Robert Saleh helped turn into a firestorm.
That firestorm has been mulled about on local and national sports shows all week. And Wednesday night, it was the Mets turn, as ‘Where in the World is Aaron Rodgers?’ was a topic that made its way onto their TV broadcast.
Gary Cohen’s asking the important questions when it comes to Aaron Rodgers.
“Is he like under Pat McAfee’s couch or something?”
“That might be the best possibility.” – Steve Gelbs. pic.twitter.com/UhqGiBnjPk

“I hope Aaron shows up some time,” play-by-play voice Gary Cohen told field reporter Steve Gelbs who is a diehard Jets fan and hosts their pre and postgame coverage on SNY during the NFL season. “Where do you think he is?”
“There’s a lot of possibilities,” Gelbs said with a chuckle after crediting Rodgers for showing up to every other offseason practice leading up to his mysterious absence from mandatory minicamp. While Gelbs ultimately wouldn’t guess where Rodgers was, Cohen had an interesting thought.
“Is he like under Pat McAfee’s couch or something?” Cohen asked with a laugh.
If Aaron Rodgers is under Pat McAfee’s couch, the former punter and current sports entertainer is doing a great job of putting on a facade. Because so far, McAfee has seemed as confused about the situation as everyone else is. Jets beat writer Connor Hughes has reported Rodgers is out of the country and doesn’t want his location known for security reasons, which might imply he’s not on McAfee’s couch.
We also don’t know the current status of the relationship between Rodgers and McAfee. Season four of Aaron Rodgers Tuesdays on The Pat McAfee Show ended on a bleak note after Rodgers feuded with Jimmy Kimmel, leading McAfee to celebrate a break from their polarizing segment.
Between Hughes reporting the Jets quarterback is out of the country and the uncertainty surrounding the future of Aaron Rodgers Tuesdays, it seems unlikely that he’s missing mandatory minicamp to hideout under McAfee’s couch. While it made for a funny comment, Cohen’s tongue-in-cheek thought probably wasn’t even the weirdest guess on Rodgers’ whereabouts this week.
