Dos Equis has found a temporary substitute for the Most Interesting Man in the World, and it’s not who you’d think.

In the latest ad for Dos Equis, Fox College Football Host Erin Andrews fills in for the iconic brand character. The original actor of the Most Interesting Man in the World, Jonathan Goldsmith, departed from the role in March after nearly a decade as the spokesperson. As AdAge notes, Dos Equis will unveil its next most interesting person in late summer.

For now, Andrews is taking the mantle – sort of. In the ad, the usual narrator and music play as Andrews is shown sideline reporting. She carves an ice sculpture as the narrator announces she’s not the most interesting person in the world, much to her dismay.

“Her personality is so infectious, she’s unable to enter hospitals. She is the 5,008th most interesting person in the World.”

Dos Equis Brand Manager of Marketing Andre Woldt told AdAge Andrews won’t be taking over the role and the appearance is just a temporary one. They report Andrews and Luis Guzman will be used in digital ads as a part of a new “interesting index” campaign.

“The two celebrities will be featured in digital ads this summer that plug an “interesting index.” Viewers are asked to visit a website where they can discover their interesting ranking. The index is derived from an algorithm that scrubs a person’s Facebook data to determine scores for originality, thirst for knowledge, worldliness and sense of adventure.”

The Most Interesting Man in the World was such a successful campaign, it would be impossible to have a celebrity step in right away and take over the role. Adding Andrews and Guzman is a nice, temporary move. The spot is short, somewhat different and funny. Andrews is likable and comes across that way, even if she’s only the 5,008th most interesting person in the world.
