The Philadelphia sports fan base can be a polarizing bunch. They’re certainly not shy about letting their feelings be known, be it to the opponents or the home team. And so when the Philadelphia Eagles offense put out a rather pedestrian effort for most of its game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, the Philly crowd let the team have it, as expected.

After having a drive stall out in Browns territory with the game knotted at 10 in the third quarter, Philly fans let the boo birds fly as the field goal unit took the field. The crowd reaction was notable enough for Fox NFL analyst Jonathan Vilma, seemingly new to how the Philly fan base operates, to question why the crowd was booing.

“I frankly don’t know why the Eagles fans are booing,” Vilma said, instead taking the opportunity to highlight the quality of the Browns defense.

Fortunately for the home crowd, the Eagles were able to find the end zone in the fourth quarter and secure victory against a sputtering Cleveland team. With the win in the bag, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni took the opportunity to let his own fans have it as time expired.

Fox cameras caught a heated Sirianni yelling towards the stands and pointing at his ear as if to suggest he couldn’t hear them anymore.

Now a head coach in the NFL yelling at his own fans after a win is quite unusual, but perhaps Sirianni has reason to be a bit more combative than his peers. Just earlier this season, Fox cameras captured a pair of Eagles fans with some choice words for Sirianni during another lackluster offensive performance. The Eagles’ head whistle has always been one to wear his emotions on his sleeve, and today’s outburst simply adds to that lore.
