If you call games long enough, you’re inevitably going to get hit with an announcer jinx or two along the way. During Thursday’s preseason game between the Las Vegas Raiders and Seattle Seahawks, Seattle analyst Michael Robinson was a victim.
After an incomplete pass on first down, Robinson praised quarterback Drew Lock’s ability to protect the football.
“When you’ve got a veteran quarterback who is your backup quarterback, he’s just not going to put the ball in harm’s way,” Robinson said. “He’s not going to make the critical mistakes that you see young quarterbacks make, especially in the preseason.”
You can see where this is going.
After another incomplete pass on second down, Seattle faced a third-and-10. Lock’s pass to Tory Horton never reached the target, as Raiders defensive back Isaiah Pola-Mao intercepted the pass before Horton even had a chance to make a play on it.
“He’s just not going to put the ball in harm’s way. He’s not going to make the critical mistakes that you see young quarterbacks make, especially in the preseason.”

Robinson did acknowledge the timing of it.
“What a play,” he said. “After we just talked about Drew being smart with the football. Right there, just a little bit of an underthrow.”
Just a little bit of an underthrow but a full-fledged announcer jinx.
