Drew Brees

Fans largely weren’t all that thrilled with Drew Brees’ brief broadcasting career for NBC. But recently, Brees has expressed the desire to return to the broadcast booth for whatever network will have him. And in a post on social media Monday, he doubled down on this desire.

Brees had extremely high expectations for his broadcasting career from fans who enjoyed watching him play on the field throughout his 20-year NFL career. And while some, like Joe Buck, believe that Brees may have gotten a “raw deal”, others believe that Brees struggled to let his personality shine through during his time in the booth with NBC.

Only time will tell whether Brees gets the second chance that he wants at calling NFL games. But on X, formerly known as Twitter, Brees again stated that he is willing to answer the phone for any network that comes calling.

“Yep, I said it,” said Brees about a video of Brees saying that he believes he can be “the best” at broadcasting with another chance.  “SNF, MNF or Thursday Night Football. Come get me when you’re ready! Until then I’m coaching ball.”

Since NBC and Brees went their separate ways, the former Saints quarterback coached at several levels, including a brief stint as an assistant for Purdue, his alma mater, and as a coach of his son’s 7-on-7 team, which he is still doing.

Brees seems to be somewhat content as his son’s coach for the time being. But based on these most recent comments from him, it sure seems like his ideal post-football career would be in the broadcast booth.
