It’s October, which means Draymond Green is getting ready for the NBA season, and to talk football on a new show with Fox Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Which begs the question, why is Draymond Green talking about football? Why is Draymond Green Talking About Football? With Jordan Schultz was formally announced Thursday morning, with the NBA All-Star and Fox Sports NFL insider teaming up for a weekly Instagram Live show.

“Those who know me know I’ve loved football since I was a little kid,” Green said in the press release. “To this day, I love watching football even more than I love watching basketball. A very fun part of this show for me is getting to see the inside work of an insider that I don’t often get to see as a player. I’m excited for people to hear our diverse perspectives coming together to talk football.”

The Instagram Live show is a production of OBB Sound, the audio division of OBB Media, and is filmed at OBB Studios and on the road throughout the season. Episodes will air every Thursday at 7:30pm ET (@money23green and @JordanSchultz) ahead of Thursday Night Football.

“I’m excited about this show because I think football fans will quickly fall in love with Draymond’s passion for the game and his perspective as an elite athlete,” Schultz added. “I learn something about the game every time I talk to him and I know fans will too. It’s been fascinating to learn about the lens that he watches football with. Listeners are going to have fun and learn something about the game when they tune in.”

With his NBA career winding down and his media career continuing to heat up, it’s interesting to see Green, who also hosts The Draymond Green Show for Colin Cowherd’s The Volume, dive into football in this new venture. And while everyone’s immediate reaction is undoubtedly, ‘Why is Draymond Green talking about football?’ It’s not uncommon for former professional athletes to become multi-sport analysts, see Shannon Sharpe. Green might not be known for football, but he’s a professional athlete with a no-holds-barred attitude who can bring a unique perspective to any sport.

Green and Schultz began recording episodes of their new show last month, but the official announcement came this week. According to the release, Schultz and Green will get exclusive scoops, preview the week’s upcoming games, make their against-the-spread picks, recap the week’s biggest storylines and discuss their own fantasy teams.

Schultz joined this week’s episode of the Awful Announcing Podcast, where he discussed his new show with Green, as well as his career as an insider, pivoting from the NBA to the NFL, working with Colin Cowherd, Max Kellerman, and much more. The full episode will be released Friday, Oct. 11.
