Dak Prescott is thankful for having the means to build a new home, but he’s not happy about the media attention it’s getting.
Many of us have undergone home renovations as nosy neighbors attempt to figure out what work is being done. But for Prescott, those home renovations started out by demolishing a mansion, and those nosy neighbors are the entirety of America.
Earlier this week, videos of Prescott’s 8,800 square-foot home being torn down by excavators spread on social media. And while meeting with the media on Thursday, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback seemed surprised when reporters asked him about it.
Dak Prescott spoke today on how he doesn’t appreciate the coverage around his home renovation project that drew national attention.
Naturally, I lived a little dangerously with the next question 😂

“I thought we were talking football,” Prescott said before explaining that he didn’t build the house that he just had torn down this week.
“It’s crazy the coverage it got, just being frank,” Prescott continued. “Trying to keep my personal life my personal life, build a home or a place or have a property that I’m about to raise a daughter and a family there, I truly don’t appreciate the drones, the extra videos and honestly, the conversation of it. I’m super-blessed to be able to at this point build what I want. So, enough said.”
Nick Harris, Cowboys beat writer for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram nearly struck a nerve with his follow-up question when he said, “The landscape is different from the last time you all played the Lions…” A question that almost agitated Prescott, but ended up garnering a big laugh once the Cowboys quarterback realized Harris wasn’t asking about the landscaping at his house.
Prescott reportedly purchased the since-demolished 8,800 square-foot mansion in 2019 for $3 million on seven acres of property. As the Cowboys quarterback noted, he now has a family, living with his girlfriend and their daughter, who was born earlier this year. And although he hasn’t been short on cash in recent years, the Cowboys made Prescott the highest paid player in NFL history prior to the start of this season, presumably making it easier to build a custom home.
