It’s been a frustrating season so far for the Dallas Cowboys.
America’s Team fell to 3-5 on Sunday after a 21-27 loss at the hands of the Atlanta Falcons. And adding injury to insult, starting quarterback Dak Prescott went down late in the third quarter with a hamstring.
As Prescott watched from the sidelines with backup quarterback Cooper Rush trying to stage a late fourth-quarter comeback, Fox cameras caught Dak’s frustration getting the best of him.
Is Dak Prescott saying “We f*cking suck” or “These refs suck”?pic.twitter.com/ZKYoGifrbA

Now, there are a couple of working theories as to what Prescott was saying. The one that has caught the most traction online is that the Dallas quarterback was saying “We f***ing suck.”
And while it’s plausible that Fox’s cameras caught Prescott at the perfect time to provide some cannon fodder for Monday’s morning sports talk shows, there’s also a more innocuous possibility. Prescott could be saying “These refs suck.”
Either way, it was clear that Prescott was upset at how things were going on Sunday, but one statement is clearly more desirable than the other if you’re inside the Dallas locker room.
It wouldn’t be the first time this season that a Cowboys player was caught on camera expressing frustration with one of his teammates. Just a few weeks ago, NBC showed star Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb getting into it with Prescott on the sideline following an interception.
Is it possible that all this losing has bred contempt in the Cowboys locker room? Sure, they wouldn’t be the first team with a toxic locker room environment. But does it seem like Prescott — the face of the franchise — would say something like that to another teammate on the sidelines during the fourth quarter of a game, helmet off for all to see? That seems less likely. Though if he did, it is a testament to how truly awful things have gotten in Dallas.
Now it’s up to the professional lip readers to decide just how Dak feels about his fellow Cowboys teammates.
