Millions of Commanders fans celebrated the organization’s first postseason win in 19 years on Sunday night against the Buccaneers. But perhaps nobody was as visibly and audibly excited about the win as Commanders radio broadcasters Bram Weinstein and London Fletcher, who delivered a call for the ages on the game-winning field goal from Zane Gonzalez.
With three seconds left in the fourth quarter, Commanders kicker Zane Gonzalez stepped up for what was likely the biggest kick of his career to date.
While it wasn’t pretty, Gonzalez delivered on a 37-yard field goal attempt that doinked in off the right upright as time expired to send the Commanders to a Divisional Round matchup with the Detroit Lions. The majority of Commanders fans first saw this on the NBC broadcast with Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth, who had a great call of the crazy moment in their own right.
“THEY DOINKED THEIR WAY TO THE DIVISIONAL ROUND! UNBELIEVABLE!”

Just before the NBC postgame coverage ended, Commanders fans were gifted a treat when NBC showed what Weinstein and Fletcher looked like during — and after — the kick. The pair were overcome with emotion once they were sure the kick had ricocheted in off the upright.
“Zane Gonzalez looking to send Washington into the Divisional Round,” said Weinstein. “Snap good, hold down, kick on its way. It is… Good! The Cardiac Commanders are the Clutch Commanders! They do it again! We’ll see you in Detroit!”
“And Zane Gonzalez kicks in the door and kicks us to the second round of the playoffs!” added Fletcher.

Just listening to the call from Weinstein and Fletcher doesn’t do it justice, as perhaps the greatest part was that Fletcher began uncontrollably punching the air in excitement for about ten seconds as Weinstein was speaking about the made kick.
The call from Weinstein and Fletcher quickly garnered recognition on social media, with Commanders fans and media pundits alike praising the two for the passion-filled call.

If anyone deserves this kind of moment, it is someone like London Fletcher, who starred for the team for seven seasons from 2007-2013 and earned four Pro Bowl appearances during his time with the organization.
Meanwhile, Weinstein is equally as beloved in the Washington metropolitan area as a radio personality for years before joining the Commanders radio booth in 2020. So it is truly hard to fault either for being as excited as they were to see the biggest win in recent memory for the organization.
