Colin Cowherd savors Aaron Rodgers being voted ‘most annoying’ by NFL fans: ‘He’s exhausting to everybody’

Colin Cowherd has been one of Aaron Rodgers’ loudest critics for years, and a recent poll may have earned him the right to say ‘told you so.’

Rodgers has undoubtedly made himself an easy target off the football field in recent years. But with Cowherd claiming Rodgers’ “football IQ isn’t very high,” and saying things like four-time NFL MVP needs to marry a “strong woman” to right his career, the Fox Sports Radio host gets called out for being too harsh at times.

“I’ve always had this thing with Aaron Rodgers, and fans are like, ‘Colin, it’s just you and an Aaron Rodgers thing.’ And officially today, it’s not,” Cowherd said.

A survey conducted by The Action Network polling more than 3,000 American NFL fans from July 31 through Aug. 5 declared Rodgers was the league’s “most annoying player.” Rodgers received 27% of the votes, with Travis Kelce coming in second place at 17%.

“It’s never been a me and Aaron thing. He’s exhausting to everybody,” Cowherd claimed while citing The Action Network poll.

Not only does Cowherd know Rodgers is exhausting to everybody, but he claims to know why. According to Cowherd, Rodgers was once in the GOAT discussion with Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. “And of those three, Aaron was the coolest. And Aaron threw the prettiest ball by far. Manning and Brady were almost governed by their teams to some degree…but Aaron was the cool guy.”

Cowherd said Brady and Manning then separated themselves by appearing in and winning more Super Bowls, while Rodgers was still stuck with his lone trophy. Because of that, Cowherd believes Rodgers started worrying about stats and his touchdown touchdown-to-interception ratio more than winning.

“Aaron did not used to be like this. Aaron was not annoying when he came into the league. That was not who Aaron was,” Cowherd said. “He was cool, he was fun, he was kinda cocky, but he replaced Favre, it was kinda cool. And then Brady and Manning pull away, he becomes stats obsessed.”

“And then COVID hits four years ago,” Cowherd continued. “And as Brady and Manning start moving into broadcasting and corporate America and dealing in the media and working for the media, once again Aaron has to be different. And he becomes anti-media and anti-corporate America…If Brady, Manning, and Aaron were compared traditionally, he finishes third in the GOAT discussion. So he creates a new measuring stick. ‘I’m not a shill, I’m not corporate, I’m anti-media, I believe in conspiracy theories.’”

That’s nice of Cowherd to come up with such a grand theory for the NFL’s most infamous conspiracy theorist. But blaming Rodgers’ sharp right turn on the various successes of Manning and Brady is probably too forgiving.
