It hasn’t been a great time for Pro Football Focus in recent weeks. And after his heroics on Monday Night Football, Chicago Bears quarterback Case Keenum was the latest player to take a dig.
Keenum, the Bears’ third-string quarterback, was called into duty on MNF against the Philadelphia Eagles. Starter Caleb Williams was out with his much-talked-about hamstring injury, while prized backup Tyson Bagent was also held out after clearing concussion protocol late in the week.
That meant the 38-year-old veteran quarterback who hadn’t played in an NFL game since 2023 was called into duty. And against all odds, he delivered.
The Bears cruised past the Eagles, 27-7, as Keenum was nearly flawless. He finished with a statline of 24-of-34 passing for 247 yards, two touchdowns against zero interceptions and zero sacks for a 110.8 quarterback rating.
And while answering questions about his performance at the postgame press conference, he joked about whether the much-maligned online outlet would see it the same way.

No sacks tonight right? One on a penalty? PFF may count that right? #DaBears #Bears pic.twitter.com/DMV0idZB3t

“No sacks tonight, right? But it was a penalty, right? It didn’t count. PFF may count those, I guess,” Keenum quipped.
Pro Football Focus has drawn plenty of criticism in the early weeks of the season for its player grades, especially in the Bears locker room. There was plenty of backlash over the outlet’s poor grade for Caleb Williams in the season opener against the Panthers, despite the Bears putting up 59 points. Specifically, PFF still gave Williams a negative play grade that was wiped out by a defensive penalty, which is where Keenum’s comment comes from.
This criticism came on the heels of NBC’s Sunday Night Football decision to remove PFF rankings from its player introductions. Ultimately, the grades are all subjective, which leaves them open to these kinds of critiques from current and former players. You know J.J. Watt will be very happy to see his former Texans teammate join his crusade against Pro Football Focus.
