Cam Little made three field goals for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first half of Saturday night’s preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The last one turned some heads, and understandably so.
With one second remaining in the second quarter, Jacksonville sent Little out to try a field goal from 70 yards. He nailed it.
For reference, the longest official kick in NFL history belongs to former Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker, who hit from 66 yards in a 2021 game.
Since it came in a preseason game, Little’s kick won’t count as a record. But he earned a lot of praise and attention for it.
Jacksonville color commentator Bucky Brooks quickly realized that Little’s kick could be true.
“Holy smokes. That’s got a shot,” said Brooks as the ball was in the air.
“He just kicked a 70-yard field goal,” play-by-play man Brian Sexton said. “Are you kidding me?”
“That’s crazy,” Brooks added. “That’s crazy.”
“I’ve never seen that,” Sexton added. “The NFL record — that would be an NFL record. That’s unbelievable.”

Calling the game for the Steelers, Bob Pompeani and Charlie Batch were no less impressed.
“Can you believe it — 70 yards and Jacksonville’s sideline erupts,” Pompeani said. “The kid has leg. But who knew it was gonna be 70 yards?”
