Sunday night’s game between the Cowboys and Bears was not close, which meant some time to kill for NBC play-by-play man Al Michaels.

Michaels apparently figured he’d use the fourth quarter to practice his vocals, in case he ever chooses to release that Carrie Underwood cover album the world is just dying to hear. The legendary announcer performed a stunning rendition of Underwood’s new Sunday Night Football theme song, bringing viewers to tears with an angelic croon.

Here’s Michaels and Underwood back-to-back. See if you can tell which is which.

Did we say angelic? We meant abominable. Silly autocorrect.

If that wasn’t scary enough, try this clip of Michaels’ voice played over the video of Underwood singing the song.

Michaels has a brilliant speaking voice, firm enough to convey competence and expertise while still gentle enough to soothe couch-potato viewers on Sunday night.

But, uh, maybe he should leave the singing alone.
