It’s been another busy week in sports media. We’re here to recap the biggest news and events that took place and share some of our best work from the week that was. Without further adieu: 

Bill Walton talked beer, weed, and mimosas on ESPNU – Jan. 10

The always-entertaining Bill Walton appeared during the “ESPN Voices” College Football Playoff broadcast on ESPNU where he dressed in full Uncle Sam garb, talked about how weed should be legal, and made some awkward sexual innuendos. You never know what you’re going to get with him.

Dabo Swinney calls out Colin Cowherd: “He’s the fraud.” – Jan. 10

The war of words between Colin Cowherd and Clemson coach Dabo Swinney started this week after Swinney brought up Cowherd’s disparaging comments towards the Tigers during the national championship post-game press conference. Swinney echoed Cowherd’s comments and called him the fraud. Cowherd responded saying he was happy for Clemson and made the statement for entertainment.

Mike Francesa interviewed George Karl, thinking he was interviewing Jerry Sloan – Jan. 11

Mike Francesa had a moment on Tuesday when he thought George Karl was Jerry Sloan. During the interview, he asked Karl about getting defeated by the Bulls in an iconic playoff series…which never happened to Karl’s teams.

Over 21,000 sign petition to ban Joe Buck and Troy Aikman – Jan. 12

A Green Bay Packers fan in Wisconsin created a petition to ban Joe Buck and Troy Aikman from calling Packers games. While it’s going to have zero effect on Fox’s broadcast plans, the petition received more than 25,000 signatures.

Mike Greenberg reportedly leaving ‘Mike & Mike’ for a new morning TV show on ESPN – Jan. 12

Mike and Mike is being dissolved, as Mike Greenberg is leaving the popular radio show for a new TV show on ESPN. There’s been no news on when Greenberg is leaving or who a potential replacement might be for him on the show.
