Brewers’ Jacob Misiorowski learns valuable lesson about Packers’ attention dominance

The Milwaukee Brewers are on an absolute tear right now, posting a Major League Baseball-leading 80-49 record.

A big part of the reason why is Jacob Misiorowski, the current frontrunner for the National League Cy Young Award, who improved to 13-5 with a 1.68 ERA and 216 strikeouts in a duel against Atlanta Braves ace Chris Sale on Friday night in front of a sellout crowd of 40,130 at American Family Field.

After the game, “Miz” returned to the locker room, understandably assuming that he would be surrounded by a gaggle of reporters eager to talk to the best pitcher on the best team in baseball. However, whatever he was expecting, the horde of media members failed to live up to it.

“This is it?” he asked in a video by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter Curt Hogg.

“Packers play today,” responded Hogg.

“Aha,” replied a nodding Misiorowski. “There it is.”

Miz, upon seeing a small crowd of reporters: “This is it?”

“Packers play today.”

Indeed, the Green Bay Packers played a preseason exhibition game against the Denver Broncos at Mile High on Friday night. And presumably, some of the reporters who might have been on hand to see the Brewers become the first MLB team to win 80 games this season were instead covering the NFL game.

There was much gnashing of teeth in the comments and quotes of Hogg’s X post, and understandably so. And it’s hard to imagine that the Brewers will lack for local media attention once the playoffs get underway. But this is probably a good reminder that, as always, for fans and media outlets alike, nothing moves the needle like the NFL. And that’s especially true when you’re talking about a franchise like the Packers.

There it is.
