Mixing up what school a player went to occasionally happens, but saying that a prominent former college player went to one of his school’s biggest rivals? That’s a little more rare, but that’s what Kevin Harlan did on the TNT broadcast of Wizards-Knicks Thursday. Harlan said Washington guard Trey Burke, who shone at Michigan, was “the former Big Ten player of the year at Ohio State”:
Unsurprisingly, misassigning Burke’s school that way got some backlash.
Oh no, Kevin Harlan.
Trey Burke did NOT go to Ohio State.

This genius on @NBAonTNT right now said that @TreyBurke was from Ohio…. he's from @umichbball! That's disrespectful #GoBlue

I wonder if this announcer knows how pissed @TreyBurke would be if he knew he just said "former player of the year out of Ohio State"..#HAIL

Trey Burke, former Ohio State Big Ten player of the year? Are you kidding me?

Haha the announcers just said @TreyBurke went to Ohio state… We have straight fools commentating games this Thursday night.

Yep, mixing up Ohio State and Michigan is not going to go over well with fans of either. We’re just waiting for Jim Harbaugh to weigh in with a corrective tweet now…
