There’s an old joke about how if all of the runner-up championship gear gets donated overseas, the rest of the world must think the Buffalo Bills had an unprecedented run of dominance.
Obviously that championship gear does get made for both teams, but normally the runner-up doesn’t accidentally have a minute-long radio ad for that apparel air after a massive loss. That’s exactly what happened to one Alabama radio station, though.
Here is the commercial currently running on @WJOX945 here in Birmingham.
Obviously, it’s a prerecorded advertisement to push #Alabama title gear at local Academy Sports locations across the state but it’s still funny. #NationalChampionship #RollTide pic.twitter.com/ahN1xhGjPv

The fact that the ad is set up to feel like a live narrative is really what makes it.
“Coming to you from Academy Sports…many Bama fans coming through getting all of their title apparel. What a great win over Clemson for the Crimson Tide. Six titles in ten years, truly amazing. Title number seven for Nick Saban.”
In fairness, it was pretty easy for everyone to imagine that scenario before the game. That’s why Clemson absolutely blowing the doors off of Alabama was such a spectacle.
