Late-night talk shows can get repetitive, but sometimes, magic happens. Recently, Seth Meyers’ show provided a heartwarming moment when he and Amy Poehler tackled an unexpected topic — Australian women’s soccer.

This isn’t their first foray into sinking their teeth into championing women’s sports. Back in 2015, they memorably called out Andy Benoit, then with Sports Illustrated, who dismissed women’s soccer — and women’s sports for that matter — entirely. While that take has curdled like warm milk, Poehler and Meyers’ comedic chemistry advocating for women’s sports remains as sharp as ever.

And if you didn’t have Meyers and Poehler talking about the Matildas’ goalkeepers — Lydia Williams and Mackenzie Arnold — on your bingo card, we’re not so sure anyone else did either.

“I cried today, I almost forgot to tell you,” Meyers said. “I watched a video, and this is a tie into you being in Australia. The Australian goalkeeper on the women’s national team is retiring, and she gave the No. 1 jersey to like who’s taking over.”

The video below is the one Meyers is referencing.

“I love a sports cry,” Poehler said.

Some people do, but probably not if you’re a New York Mets or Jets fan.

“When somebody’s getting an induction into the Hall of Fame, and they’re like, ‘My mom is the real MVP,'” she added. “Forget it.”

“Watching anybody — and I will say, I liked an Australian because they don’t, they seem like they never cry,” Meyers said.

The two then proceeded to do some of the worst Australian accents you’ll ever hear, but that shouldn’t take away from how heartwarming the moment was, even if it was a bit cringe.
