Interviews rarely happen as spontaneously as NBC Sports’ chat with Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris Sunday night.

The Football Night in America analysts were previewing the Sunday Night Football matchup between the Falcons and Washington Commanders. Tony Dungy mentioned the Commanders would need to stop Atlanta’s run game. Just as he made that point, Morris walked up from behind the on-field set and hugged Dungy, then went and embraced Rodney Harrison.

“What’s up?” Harrison asked Morris. “I’m on TV!”

Morris waved to the camera.

“As Raheem Morris tells us … you give us a game plan right now, coach, what do we have to do, how do we stop them?” Dungy said.

“We gotta go out here and we gotta stop this run,” Morris said, before turning to walk off.

That’s one of the great things about having a set on the field. It encourages these types of impromptu interactions.

Morris had every right to be in a playful, confident mood before a game with playoff implications. In his first season as the Falcons head coach, he’s guided the franchise to its best record since 2017.
