Broadcast technical difficulties happen, even during events as prominent as the World Series, but it’s more unusual to see them on a studio show. That’s exactly what happened on NBCSN’s Men In Blazers: Live Edition Monday afternoon, though. NBCSN host Liam McHugh threw to Men In Blazers, but then only a black screen came up:
NBCSN then went to commercial, and then went to an old episode of Premier League Download (which, interestingly enough, is also hosted by MIB’s Roger Bennett) about Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola:
After several minutes of that and a commercial break, they were finally able to get the Men In Blazers live show going:
The Men In Blazers’ Twitter followers were in fine form about this, though:
Lol it's happening. Cut to black @MenInBlazers pic.twitter.com/U0JS4CgJB0

@MenInBlazers this black screen I'm staring at…. definitely suboptimal
— Omar Moubayed (@Moubayed11) February 27, 2017
Force of @MenInBlazers crap is so strong that it actually caused NBCSN to go dark for 30 seconds.
— rachelpi (@rachelpi) February 27, 2017
@MenInBlazers Black screen = new heights of suboptimal.

So @MenInBlazers cut to black and now I'll never know if Rog and Davo got whacked or if they're still enjoying some baked ziti.

I'm impressed @MenInBlazers managed to get Pep for their "live" show!
— Kim Law (@KimLawNoles) February 27, 2017
At least @MenInBlazers had the dignity to still fill their 30 minutes with two bald guys
— Kelly B. McGillivray (@kellybmcg) February 27, 2017
@MenInBlazers Cancelled already? You had a nice Ranieri-like run, minus the trophies

@MenInBlazers Michael is looking swanky, though he has a new accent in this episode of Men in Blazers. #PepCat #CrapTechnicalDifficulties

This new live episode of @MenInBlazers is fantastic. Feelings of deja vu. Like I've watched this story before. #suboptimal
— Myers Heritage, MD (@firstnamemyers) February 27, 2017
This has been the best @MenInBlazers show yet. So suboptimal that it's been optimal. Hope this is the theme for all future episodes.
— Jayhawkjac (@jayhawkjac) February 27, 2017
@MenInBlazers Impressive. Cramming 30 minutes of crap in a 15 minute bag. #EfficientBalds

GFOPs. Could not be sadder about Today. Had a Black History Month feature we were excited to show. Will re-air tonight 1130 PM ET on @NBCSN

No word on what caused the technical difficulties; perhaps the ravens carrying the signal were shot down between their New York studio and NBCSN’s Connecticut headquarters? In any case, tune in at 11:30 p.m. Eastern if you want to see the whole (now non-live) show. The original live show is no more; it’s ceased to be, expired and gone to meet its maker, and has shuffled off this mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin’ choir invisible. But at least it gave us some good Twitter jokes.
