NHL on NBC Doc Emrick is on the Mount Rushmore of play by play announcers working today. The venerable voice of hockey has been the longtime voice of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. An overtime hockey game called by Doc is some of the best theatre in sports. As our Ken Fang chronicled recently, Emrick’s play by play expertise isn’t just in hockey though as he’s called several other sports. It also happens to extend to the restaurant business.
While in Pittsburgh for the Stanley Cup Final, Doc and broadcast colleague Pierre McGuire stopped by the famous Primanti Bros. shop to check out their own signature sandwiches. And Emrick couldn’t help but to do some play by play.
Doc calling the play-by-play construction of his own signature @primantibros sandwich?

Now all I can imagine is Doc Emrick replacing Guy Fieri on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. How great would that be? Also, I’m very surprised Pierre McGuire didn’t sprinkle in every single minute detail about where the sandwich guys went to culinary school.
