Things got testy and awkward on the set of NBA Gametime Live during a conversation between hosts Chris Miles and Sam Mitchell.
It started innocuously enough. A shot was shown of Golden State Warriors stalwarts Draymond Green and Steph Curry along with their longtime coach, Steve Kerr. Curry was holding his recently won Gold Medal, which he earned when he helped lead Team USA’s men’s basketball team to victory at the Paris Olympics. While Curry had a gold medal, Kerr, who coached Team USA, did not. This is because in the Olympics, coaches are not awarded medals won by teams or athletes they’re coaching. This is true across all sports.
“The coaches don’t get medals,” Mitchell said. “I guess it just tells you what international — how they value coaches. Not at all.”
“I’m surprised coaches get a paycheck for this show,” Miles replied. “I think like, maybe you should do this pro bono, my friend.”
“You know, last time I looked at my check, it’s pretty close,” Mitchell replied. “So hey, I’m taking donations.”
Then he turned his focus to Miles.
“Why don’t you come up off some of that money you got? Since you’re over there bragging about it,” Mitchell said.
“I’m not bragging about it,” a laughing Miles said.
And that’s when things took off.
“Oh, I’m sorry. Did you rent your beach house out, down in Florida, during the hurricane? Or do I need to go on. How ’bout your townhouse?”
“Hey, what’s going on here Sam?” Miles said, still laughing.
“You wanna call me out,” Mitchell replied. “I mean, come on. You screaming broke and hungry. Let’s just see it. You know, I know what you have and where you live, young fella. So you need to stop.”
One of the most awkward sequences you’ll ever see on live TV. While filling time before the Kings/Warriors tip-off, Sam Mitchell does not take kindly to being the butt of a joke related to his NBAtv salary and doesn’t hold back 👀👀pic.twitter.com/9gVNdHBnK7

“I think we have snitches on the show today. His name is Sam Mitchell,” Miles replied.
“No, we don’t have snitches. We have truth-tellers,” Mitchell said. “So you’re the one who’s crying poor and destitute up here when — do I need to keep going on further, more and more? Or do you want me to stop right now?”
“How ’bout we go to this game between the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors?” Miles said.
“I done told you, young fella, you gotta stop messing with me on national TV. I done told you about that. Hey, do I need to give out the address? ‘Cause you’re not at home right now.”
While Mitchell didn’t immediately share Miles’ address, he did later.
UPDATE: Sam Mitchell got frustrated at his cohost and ACTUALLY DROPPED HIS COHOST’S ADDRESS ON LIVE TV
