Nick Wright is apparently no fan of the controversial NBA instigator and Barstool Sports podcast host Patrick Beverley, especially after Beverley ended his season in Milwaukee by throwing a ball at a fan and chastising an ESPN producer in the locker room.
In a diatribe against Beverley on Friday’s episode of First Things First, Wright took aim at Beverley, calling him a “delusional, cheap shot artist, misogynistic clown” with a “terrible podcast.”
Wright pointed out that from Houston to Los Angeles to Milwaukee, Beverley’s teams have often either performed better without him or ended up in embarrassing situations because of him.
“If this was your last moment in the league, good riddance,” Wright said. “Won’t be missed, won’t be memorable. Congrats on creating something out of thin air like the Wizard of Oz that never should have existed to where you’re a guy that’s talked about. But unnecessary from start to finish, pal.”

Wright also mocked Beverley’s fake rich guy act early in his career in Houston, where he and Wright crossed paths when Wright was a radio host in the city and Beverley first broke through in the NBA with the Rockets.
After Beverley pushed an ESPN producer out of his postgame media scrum following a postseason exit at the hands of the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night, Wright taunted Beverley for “promoting your podcast at the expense of your career” before noting Beverley’s show, The PatBev Podcast with Rone, ranks behind Thanasis Antetokounmpo’s podcast and just ahead of an obscure hunting podcast. The ESPN producer, Malinda Adams, posted on X that Beverley called her to apologize.
Maybe Wright had a run-in with Beverley back in Houston or just simply despises the journeyman defender, but he came ready on First Things First to close out the week.
