When it comes to America’s most important natural resources, Ian Eagle is certainly at or near the top of the list. And we have his Brooklyn Nets broadcast partner Sarah Kustok to thank for preserving him.
Not only did she step up the clutch to save Eagle from a loose ball courtside, she did so in spectacular fashion.
It happened during Wednesday night’s Nets game against the Detroit Pistons. As a bouncing basketball came tumbling towards the Nets broadcast position, Kustok effortlessly reached one hand into the air to grab the ball from colliding with Eagle’s head. Given the Nets lost to the Pistons 113-98, it was the biggest highlight from the evening in Brooklyn for the home team.

Not only does it take incredible skill to pull it off, Sarah Kustok also showed a bit of showmanship too. She then held it up for that extra split second just to show everyone what she accomplished, and to provide a memeable moment for the popular Art But Make It Sports account.

And of course, given the stakes involved, it’s a relief to know that she understood the assignment – protect Ian Eagle at all costs.

The only question that remains would be if it was Noah Eagle sitting by his dad courtside and the exact same series of events played out, would he choose to intervene? Or would he let the ball bounce off of his father’s head for all the jokes and memes that would then follow. Probably the latter.
