On Sunday morning, the landscape of the NBA for years to come was flipped on its head entirely by the shocking trade between the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers involving Luka Dončić and Anthony Davis. And it turns out, the big moves didn’t end there, as another massive move was announced just hours later that had plenty of personalities around the sports media world talking.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Sacramento Kings were listening to trade offers for star point guard De’Aaron Fox. All along, the natural landing spot that made the most sense was for the San Antonio Spurs to bring him in a trade to be the floor general of the future alongside Victor Wembanyama.

This scenario played out on Sunday night. But there were perhaps more moving parts around the league than most were expecting.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, and Sacramento Kings agreed to a three team trade that will send Fox and Jordan McLaughlin to San Antonio and see Zach Lavine, Sidy Cissoko, and a total of six draft picks head to Sacramento.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls re-obtained the rights to their 2025 first round pick, which they had previously traded to the Spurs, along with Zach Collins, Tre Jones, and Kevin Huerter.

This most recent trade doesn’t have nearly as much star power or as much shock value as the Davis-Dončić deal that preceded it. But nonetheless, media members still couldn’t believe all of the movement that has happened in the past 24 hours.

“Over/under 5 years Spurs are playing in the WCF. I say under,” wrote Ariel Helwani on X.

“Feels like the Kings got more for Fox than the Mavs did for Luka,” wrote ESPN radio host Evan Cohen on X.

“Had to go into the vault. The Race for Seis begins,” wrote Michelle Beadle of Mad Dog Sports Radio of the Spurs potentially being in the mix for their sixth championship after the addition of Fox.

“NBA Trade Deadline might be more exciting than the season itself,” wrote ESPN’s Alan Hahn

Given the fact that Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler still finds himself on the market prior to Thursday’s trade deadline, the blockbuster deals may not be entirely done just yet.

But regardless, if this is the final high-profile deal before Thursday’s deadline, it will still be one of the most memorable trade deadlines in recent memory thanks to Sunday’s hectic news day in the NBA.
