Knicks' broadcasters Ed Cohen (L) and Brendan Brown are sidelined over health protocols.

The New York Knicks’ radio broadcast has had some different voices than usual lately. Ed Cohen and Brendan Brown have been calling Knicks’ games together on 98.7 ESPN New York since 2017 (with Brown previously serving as an analyst on those games beginning in 2008, and doing so full-time since 2014 alongside play-by-play voice Mike Crispino), but they were absent for Saturday’s Knicks-Thunder game, which was called by Kenny Albert and Alan Hahn. And Marc Berman of The New York Post reported Monday that Cohen (seen at left above) and Brown (seen at right above) missed that game due to being “in health and safety protocols,” and that they’ll be out indefinitely going forward, with John Giannone and John Wallace filling in:

The Knicks radio team of Ed Cohen and Brendan Brown has been sidelined indefinitely as the duo are in health and safety protocols, The Post has learned.

Cohen and Brown have been the ESPN Radio Team for the last three seasons. Brown, son of Hubie Brown and a former Memphis assistant, has been the Knicks radio analyst off and on since 2008. Cohen and Brown, in their fourth season together, have not been traveling with the team during the pandemic season but call the home games from the Garden.

Giannone has been at MSG since 2002, working mostly as a reporter on their New York Rangers’ telecasts, but also as a studio host and a back-up play-by-play announcer. Before that, he spent time at CNN, The New York Daily News, the Post, and CBS Sports. Wallace played in the NBA from 1996-2004 (with a European stint from 2002-03 and another one in 2005), including for the Knicks in the 1996-97 and 1999-00 seasons, and has frequently appeared on MSG since 2014. We’ll see how they do filling in for Cohen and Brown, and we’ll see when Cohen and Brown are able to return. We wish them a speedy recovery.
