Regarding the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, no current players were more outspoken than Kevin Durant and Draymond Green.

For a brief moment, the two prominent critics of the weekend’s festivities came together for a good soundbite.

Green said many wild things during TNT’s broadcast of the All-Star Game. In particular, he claimed that the Golden State Warriors offered him a head coaching role after he retired, which was surprising given his clear interest in working in media.

“I’ve already been offered the Golden State Warriors head coaching job when I’m done,” Green said. “I think I could be a good coach. I don’t want to be.”

Green’s former Warriors teammate Kevin Durant thinks it’s a great idea. In fact, he thinks the forward would thrive in the role even more than in the broadcasting booth.

“I think Draymond would be an incredible head coach,” Durant told reporters Sunday. “I think he’d be a better head coach than he would be a TV analyst. He’s pretty good at that. I just think he loves being on the floor, he loves teaching, he loves that competitive nature of competing on the court. I think if he would go into TV, he would just be clawing and itching to get back on the floor.”

Whatever happens when Green retires, it’s probably going to happen sooner than later. The 34-year-old is in his 13th NBA season and is under contract through next season. Given his burgeoning media empire and how much attention his appearance got this past weekend, he likely wanted to continue down the media road. But it’s interesting to know that a coaching opportunity might be there as a backup plan.
