If Minnesota Timberwolves guard Jaylen Clark is going to go into broadcasting after his career is over, he learned a valuable and humorous early lesson on Saturday. Don’t talk to the producer during the broadcast.
Clark joined announcers J.B. Long and Randolph Childress for guest commentary during the second quarter of the Summer League game between the Timberwolves and Houston Rockets.
“Amari’s a crafty player,” Clark said, seemingly referencing Amari Bailey. “What, what’d you say?”
“That’s Martez Brown walking into a triple, too, to back it up,” Long said, as the replay showed Brown making a three-pointer. “A little defense and offense.”
“Oh, ya, ya, ya,” Clark replied, pointing at the screen.
Childress then offered some feedback to Clark, which also helped clue anyone in who might have been confused.
“That’s the hardest thing when you first get in here is that when a producer’s talking in your ear, you gotta listen but you can’t react to it,” Childress said.

“Oh, my bad,” Clark replied.
“‘Cause no one else can hear him, but us,” Childress added.
The announcers and Clark all enjoyed a good laugh.
“I swear on my screen I saw Amari,” Clark added. “I didn’t see Martez. Alright. I’m learning. This is dope, for sure. This is super cool.”
