They might not be a trendy pick to win the Eastern Conference just yet but the Atlanta Hawks are an intriguing franchise these days.
Their roster full of young talent is starting to gel and they currently find themselves in the playoff hunt. One of the most intriguing pieces on that roster is forward Jalen Johnson. The third-year Duke product has made the leap, suddenly averaging 16 points and almost nine rebounds a game as he angles for a spot in All-Star weekend.
Johnson is garnering a lot of attention and so are his parents, who were being interviewed Friday night during the Hawks’ game against the Los Angeles Lakers. During that interview, Johnson slammed home a dunk that not only hyped up his dad but caused him to grab the mic so he could explain his excitement.

“OHHH, he did it again!” said Roderick Johnson, a former professional basketball player himself. “HE DID IT AGAIN!”
That’s when Johnson couldn’t help himself and grabbed the mic from sideline reporter Tabitha Turner-Wilkins, much to his wife’s embarrassment.
“Okay, I’m not doing this on purpose,” he said to the camera. “Every time we get an interview, he’s dunking the basketball. So, I’m sorry Tabitha, but that is amazing.”
Alas, Johnson’s strong effort wasn’t enough to get the win as the Lakers won 119-102. However, he did score 19 points and grab 8 boards to keep his statline healthy and keep his parents happy.
