Chris Paul recently appeared on Jemele Hill’s Spolitics podcast at the American Black Film Festival in Miami and revealed that his illustrious NBA career could be coming to an end soon.
Hill asked Paul, “How much longer do you intend to play?”
Paul’s response: “At the most, a year. I just finished my 20th season, which is a blessing in itself. I’ve been in the NBA for more than half of my life, which is a blessing. But these years, you do not get back with your kids, with your family.”

That’s quite a scoop for Hill to unlock on her podcast.
“CP3” is one of the top point guards in basketball history, with 12 NBA All-Star selections, four All-NBA first team selections, two Olympic gold medals for Team USA, and a placement on the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.
He’s also one of the top players in NBA history who lacks a championship ring. It appears he’ll get one more shot at a title, but it remains to be seen what team he’ll get that opportunity with in the 2025-26 NBA season.
Paul, 40, told Hill that he has “no clue” where he’ll end up as an unrestricted free agent. He’s coming off a season in which he averaged 8.8 points, 7.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game with the San Antonio Spurs.
Along with a basketball career that will land him in the Hall of Fame, Paul has been known off the court for his alter ego, Cliff Paul, with State Farm.
